SFU Climate Innovation: Professional Practitioners and Community Action
SFU Climate Innovation
10:30
Climate change is affecting all areas of professional practice, from engineering to planning to accounting. SFU Climate Innovation (CI) is advancing community-centred climate action and innovation, including the way practitioners and communities work together, and ACT (the Action on Climate team), part of the CI initiative, is working to operationalize low carbon resilience and nature-based solutions. This session will share emerging practices for achieving sustainable climate action in communities; offer space for discussion about current practices and perspectives on client/community needs from practitioners across professions; explore benefits, barriers, and trade-offs to integrated approaches to adaptation and mitigation and nature-based solutions; and discuss opportunities for partnerships in which interdisciplinary, co-created research could help move the dial on climate action and innovation within and across professions.
